It’s been well over a month since I’ve posted here! Pardon the dust bunnies!! However, in the midst of everything I’ve been knitting – really I have!!
Here is my proof:
The bunny is stuffed and just needs a face. I’d skip it, but faceless dolls really bother a couple of my kids. So, I have the thread and just need to do it!
I also started on for my little friend, Miss E. My goal is to have both of them done by Easter.
Thursday night – during Lost – I started this skirt for JGirl. I think it took me about 5 hours all together. I still need to make a crochet chain from the accent yarn to use a tie. Details can be found on my Ravelry page (Knitnmom).
I also have the yarn to make a Jayne hat for my brother’s graduation gift! 🙂
Due to JGirl’s upcoming arrival I’ve put Secret of the Stole ii into hibernation. And, I have some simple socks I’m working on – should be a nice purse project!
If you read my journal you know that my life is about to change – in a big way. In a ‘not-much-time-to-knit’ kind of way.
It is really making me think about what I’m knitting. I’ve started the Secret of the Stole 2, and I love it. However, I’m only about 70% done with clue 1 and clue 2 was just released. There are 9 clues total – the last being issued March 19. If we get CJ in late March – and I can catch up and stay caught up – I could have a stole finished before she gets here! Because after she gets here – I doubt I can knit lace for a few years. (pausing for a moment of freaking out!!)
I should work on my boxers – but I’m pretty sure that is something I can do during our upcoming travels and other times when mindless knitting will be the trick. So I’ll save those for a bit.
Part of me thinks I need to start knitting bibs and diaper wraps and baby socks and all that. And, part of me is just too afraid. I know that’s silly…but I’m still a bit afraid. Even telling myself that if something horrible should happen, that I can donate the items, I am afraid to cast them on.
I guess I’m just thinking out loud again. But if you have any thoughts or advice, I’d love the feedback!
Our daytime knit group is going well! It certainly makes the week go quicker! I love waking up on Tuesday morning and knowing that it’s Knit Night and then Wednesday morning we get to do it again!
I finished Baby Susannah’s Dress….I need to ship it to Tennessee still. Have I already said that? Well, this week! I promise.
I’m still working on my boxers. It’s the perfect mindless knitting! 🙂
And, I started some socks for my mom – her birthday is at the end of this month.
Did you all hear that KnitPicks has longer circular needles now? I will be ordering some for Magic Loop very soon! Yeah!!!
While I did join Secret of the Stole 2 – I’ve decided I’m not going to knit along. I want to make sure it will be a pattern I’ll be happy with when completed. Too much work to find out you don’t like it. I guess I’m too practical to enjoy the mystery part of it!
Truly, not much is going on in my knitting life. But I’m thankful for the steadiness of it! Knitting has gotten me through some rough patches of my life and continues too!
If you can visit me in Ravelry – you need to do that – because I’ve finally taken photos of all of my stash! Well, the stash I’m going to admit to, anyway! I have tons more cotton and older project yarn…but I’m not going to worry about them right now! I’m Knitnmom on Ravelry if you haven’t added me as a friend yet!
In addition to buying new yarn, I’ve been knitting! I’ve just been bad about taking pictures! 🙂 So, hold onto your socks….here’s a firehose of projects! (Click on picture to make them bigger)
Works in Progress….
I was knitting some hand warmers for my stepmom’s birthday. But when my boys saw them they LOVED them! So, now I’m going to need to knit another pair for J1 (J2 claimed these) and one for my stepmom….or maybe something else.
It was hard to photograph because of rolling – but when I seam it up – it should look very nice! Baby is due mid-Dec – I’d better get busy!
Details can be found at Ravelry
Here is my knitting update….
BOXERS – I’ve finished one leg and I’m afraid it will be HUGE!! 😦 I’m going to persevere though because (1) it’s wonderfully mindless (see post below) and (2) I’m going to be sleeping in them – so fit is not imperitive.
SHRUG -It’s finally cooled down again so I can work on it. My friend helped me measure it and it looks like I only am 1 foot away from being done! Can’t wait to wear it!!
Baby Susanna’s Dress – Finally I’ve found a pattern that is working for me. I’ve done about 5 inches but I’m going to wait to take a picture – not very interesting yet!
So, that’s it – sort of boring – but boring is good right now!! 😉
Well, there have been craziness going on in our life and it’s affecting my knitting!
On one hand – the Baby Cable Rib socks for J2 are almost done because it’s wonderfully mindless knitting.
On the other hand – I’ve attempted and frogged a baby dress for Baby Susanna (due 12/15/07 to my boss and her hubby) 3 or 4 times.
Seems I can finish things or do mindless knitting but starting something new is just not working out. Weird what stress does to you! So, I’m going to use this new power for good! (lol) I will finish J2’s socks for the September’s “Sock A Month” KAL. Then I’ll finish my Big Shrug! At the speed I’m able to do mindless knitting – I’m thinking I could be done in a week or so.
Then I can either try Baby Susanna’s dress again – or finish the boxers. If I have to – Baby Susanna’s dress will be modified to a cute hat and booties – but darn I love this dress!! And, this squishy pink yarn…yum!
The one casualty from this potential change to our life? I have NO intention of knitting 20 miniture Christmas stockings for Dh’s coworkers anymore. Maybe next year. However, by next year I could be dealing with a walker – so maybe the year after that! LOL
Lands, what a weird week!!
So, here’s an update in the photography department!
First, here is my September Socks…starting to turn the heel! I work two at a time…but I’m a chicken…when I start the heel flaps I move to two needles and work them independently…only moving both back to one needle when the heels are completely done!
Will you all read a post without pictures? It’s just TOO hot and my head is hurting too much to go outside and take pictures right now. If I remember I’ll take a few tomorrow morning before church while it’s cool.
Tuesday night at Knit Night one of the gals brought in 3 bags of yarn! Ribbons and novelty yarn – but also some nice wool. I took a bit of wool for gloves or hats but also some Berroco Quest Color yarn. I knit up a quick Dropped Stitch scarf for my secret pal at church. I hope she’ll enjoy it. I love those super quick projects…don’t you?!?
I cast on and finished the initial ribbing for some socks for J2. I think I’m going to do the Baby cable rib pattern out of Charlene Schurch’s Sensational Knitted Socks. I’m using some Regia Cotton Plus that I got from Ruth awhile back. J2 is pretty sensitive about textures, so I hope he’ll like it.
Also on the needles…
- Boxers – I’m about 95% done with the first side. I’m also about 1/2 through the red yarn..hope I make it!!
- Beth’s Fetching…I’m about 1/3 done with the 2nd one. Once I finish it her birthday present is done!
- I want to make about 20 miniature Christmas stocking ornaments for Christmas – but I’m having trouble getting started.
- Big Shrug. Almost time to take it out of storage and finish it!
That is what my knitting is to me right now. Just a big sigh. Can I whine? Why thank you! 😉
- The Mystery Stole #3 aka my “What am I thinking?!” Stole. It’s hard! I have to really concentrate – which is not always possible with 3 boys and hubby around. I can’t knit on it with anyone around because I might mess up if I don’t totally concentrate. However, I’m enjoying it. It’s definitely a challenge. And, even though I am still working on Clue #1 and others are working on (and might even be done with) Clue #4, I’m still enjoying it. I just wish I had more time to work on it.
- My boxers – ok – I understand. The only other person knitting this pattern at Ravelry put it away saying “miles and miles of stockinette on size 3’s puts me to sleep……” Now, I get it. However, (me and my silver linings! LOL) it is perfect for Knit Night!
- My Big Shrug….too hot to work on it.
- Diagonal Lace Scarf…working it on straights. I H.A.T.E. straight needles!! I need to order some more circs so I can transfer this project.
I would feel better if I could finish something!! Maybe I need to do a quick dishcloth!
