I was knitting some hand warmers for my stepmom’s birthday. But when my boys saw them they LOVED them! So, now I’m going to need to knit another pair for J1 (J2 claimed these) and one for my stepmom….or maybe something else.
It was hard to photograph because of rolling – but when I seam it up – it should look very nice! Baby is due mid-Dec – I’d better get busy!
Details can be found at Ravelry
Sadly it took me two days to Kitchner the toes! LOL
But they are done!
Done cuff down, 2 at a time, Magic Loop
Pattern: Baby Cable Rib, from Charlene Schurch’s “Sensational Knitted Socks”
Yarn: Regia Plus Cotton Color
So, here’s an update in the photography department!
First, here is my September Socks…starting to turn the heel! I work two at a time…but I’m a chicken…when I start the heel flaps I move to two needles and work them independently…only moving both back to one needle when the heels are completely done!
That boy! He loved those socks so much he wore them all day long…even though it was 104 outside!! And, today he insisted on wearing them again because it’s picture day! LOL I started to protest because (1) he wore them all day yesterday and (2) pictures are of your FACE – not your feet. And then I remember you are only in first grade once…let it go Momma….let it go! (sigh)
So, this is the only picture he and his socks would hold still for!
Pattern: Garter Rib from Charlene Schurch’s “Sensational Knitted Socks” book
Yarn: “Night Lights”, Superwash Merino sock yarn from CavyShops
Needles: Lace Addis #2, Magic Loop, 2 at once, Cuff down
Well, that didn’t work either! So, the feet are frogged (sob – 6 inches of stockinette gone in 10 seconds!)
So, we are starting over. I’m going to do something fun from my new “Sensational Knitted Socks” book and I’m going to enjoy it! Or else!
It’s been 6 days since I got stuck on J3’s socks. I can not find anything to help me understand what I’m doing wrong – so I’m giving up! I’m going to use Knitty’s “Universal Toe-up Sock Pattern” with a short row heel and be done with it! I just want to get it done now and if he’s got big roomy heels – who cares?!?! (well, I do – but as I already said – I’m giving up)
Pattern: Laura’s Fluted Bannister Socks
Yarn: Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Socks, Watercolor
Needles: Addi Turbos, Size 2 (2.76 mm)
Thoughts: Love the yarn, the pattern was great and mindless. I’ll wear them (well, not in THIS heat) but I’m not a fan of the pooling. Did Magic Loop – but cuff-down this time. Still prefer toe-up!
Diamante Socks, started February 17th, 2007, finished May 11th, 2007
Pattern: Diamante @ Knitty.com
Needles: Addi Lace Circulars – size 2
Pattern Notes: Toe up with Magic Cast-on, loved this construction – esp the heel
Would I knit it again? Yes, without the pattern though – I’m sold on the construction!
Here’s some photos of what I’m working on right now…
Here is the Trekking XXL yarn I’m using for my socks – isn’t it pretty?
And, here are the toes 🙂 Ok – so it’s not much to look at – but it’s a start!
The start of my Big Shrug
And, I’m doing some beaded bracelets
Annika’s Socks, started February 2nd, 2007, finished February 17th, 2007
Pattern: Toe-Up, Magic Loop, K1P1 then K2P2
Yarn: KnitPicks Parade (75% Superwash Wool, 25% Nylon) – Now discontinued 😦
Needles: Addi Turbos 2
Pattern Notes: I wanted to do a toe-up sock but I’m really not happy with the heel. I had to do a short row and I just don’t like how they look! 😦 Trying a new pattern this week and going to try toe-up with gusset heel. I really want to find my “Standard Sock” method! This was close, but not it!
Would I knit it again? Yes – but I don’t like the heel.
